RK Gram Pradhan Expresses Concern

Diglipur, Jan 1: The long wait spanning decades to see the construction work of a Bus Stand and Passenger Hall at Dilgipur Headquarter area continues and the local people are getting desperate now. However, the persistent requests from the Public Representatives over the years have at last shown some positive results in the last month, and the District's Deputy Commissioner has ordered to setting apart of one government land for this cause. Situated at Ram Krishna Gram Village, near the Community Health Centre, bearing Survey No: 335/3 the land measuring an area of 0.0750 hectares has become a dream Project for the deprived People of North Andaman.

However, seeing no further progress in the construction of the Bus Stand, the people have expressed concerns. They are no longer in the mood to wait further. The Pradhan of the R.K. Gram Panchayat Shyamal Bhowmik has taken up the issue of delay in construction work with the Higher Authorities of the Administration. In his letter addressed to the Secretary Transport, he urged to expedite the process of getting the work started at the earliest. He mentioned that hundreds of rural People from the different far-flung villages of North Andaman used to come to the headquarters area of Subhash Gram Bazar for their Administrative work at different offices and other purposes daily. A large number of patients come to the lone Community Health Centre for their treatment. Many students of the three Senior Secondary Schools also come to Subhash Gram Bazar by Bus, daily, for their studies at Diglipur from their native villages.

There is not even a designated single shed in the Bazaar area, where the Bus Passengers could wait comfortably. The Passengers, including patients, students, and the general public are forced to face the scorching sun during summer or to get drenched in the rains in the absence of any earmarked shelter like the Bus Stand or Passenger Hall. The helpless people are seen standing in front of shops or Hotels, for hours in waiting for their Buses. This wait lasts for several hours in case any bus fails. Moreover, the Shopkeepers cannot allow them to stand in front of their shops, affecting their business. So quite often they ask them to get displaced from there and the passengers wander in the Bazar. This gives a very bad experience to the patients especially, those who used to come from a far-off place of 30 Kilometers distance for their treatment at CHC.

Pradhan Shri Shymal Bhowmik urged the Administration to complete the project in a time-bound manner, starting it at the earliest, putting an end to the miseries of the waiting Bus Passengers at Diglipur Bazar.
