Port Blair, Jan. 6: The team of students from Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Port Blair has brought laurel to the Islands by winning 3rd prize in the National Folk Dance competition held at Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The National Role Play and Folk Dance competition was held at Bhubaneswar, Odisha from 3rd to 6th January, 2024. The National Role Play and Folk Dance competition was organised by the Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar under the programme National Population Education Project, a flagship programme of Govt. of India as an integral part of the quality improvement in schools.

The competition was held in two categories viz. Role Play & Folk Dance. In the competition, a team of 5 students from PM Shree Sr. Sec. School Prothrapur participated in the Role Play competition and the team of 6 students from Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair presented their art in Folk Dance competition. With their excellent performance, the team of Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair won the 3rd prize. The presentation of Islands team in the Role Play competition was also appreciated at large.       Teams from 28 States and 3 Union Territories took part in the National Level competition, wherein A&N Islands team shone with stupendous performance. The winning team was facilitated with certificates and medals.

The screening of team for National Level participation was done by the Office of the Deputy Director Education (Science). Initial screening for the State Level team for the National event was done at CRC level. Successful teams at CRC level participated in the District Level screening. Best performers at the District Level events presented their art and skill at the State Level competitions. Best performers at the State Level competition represented A&N Islands in the National Level competitions.

The Secretary (Education) and the Director (Education) has congratulated the team for their performance and achievement.
