Port Blair, Jan 11: Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has raised a pressing concern with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, seeking urgent intervention for the commencement of Fixed Wing Aircraft Service in these Islands.

In a letter addressed to the Minister of Civil Aviation, the Member of Parliament emphasized the efforts undertaken by the Andaman & Nicobar Administration over the past years to initiate the Fixed Wing Aircraft Service between Port Blair and Diglipur, as well as Port Blair and Campbell Bay via Car Nicobar. He said that the administration has successfully completed the runway task, featuring a 1,000-meter runway at Diglipur and Campbell Bay, with the passenger hall already constructed for service at Diglipur.

He mentioned that despite these achievements, the project has faced unforeseen delays, hindering its progression and causing significant setbacks. He added that he believes the Ministry of Civil Aviation's intervention is crucial to overcome the remaining formalities and paperwork obstacles efficiently.

Expressing confidence that immediate action can address these challenges, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Ministry's intervention in starting 19- seater fixed wing aircraft service in A & N Islands.

He said that the commencement of a regular 19-seater Fixed Wing Aircraft Service between Port Blair and Diglipur, as well as Port Blair and Campbell Bay via Car Nicobar, will bring tremendous relief to the residents of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, especially those in Nicobar District and the North Andaman region.
