Port Blair, Jan 16: As part of Animal Welfare Fortnight from January 14, 2024, the Department of Animal Husbandry organized a Pet Walk from Marina to Flag Point. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of 50 pets, of various species and breeds. The chief guest of the occasion was Secretary, AH&VS, Shri Kumar L, who flagged off the rally. In addition to the diverse array of pets, numerous school children also took part in the event. The pet owners displayed great excitement, expressing their desire for such functions to be organized regularly.

During the event, gifts were distributed to all participating pets. The primary objective of the occasion was to raise awareness about animal welfare. The success of the event and the positive response from pet owners highlighted the potential for similar functions to be organized in the future.
