Port Blair, Jan 16: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands have achieved a significant milestone by being recognized as an ‘Aspiring Leader’ in the Startup Ranking 2022. This prestigious acknowledgment reflects the region's commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth. The Startup Ranking 2022, organized by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, is a comprehensive assessment that evaluates the startup ecosystems of various regions, recognizing outstanding contributions towards creating a conducive environment for startups to thrive. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands have stood out among their peers, showcasing their potential to become a prominent hub for emerging businesses and startups in the Category ‘B’ States (Population less than One Crore).

This achievement is testament to the collaborative efforts of the Government, local authorities, and vibrant entrepreneurial community in Andaman and Nicobar. The region has demonstrated a forward-looking approach, implementing policies and initiatives that encourage innovation, attract investment, and support the growth of startups across various sectors.

There are 53 DPIIT recognized Startups (22 women led startups). The key sector of Startups in these Islands are in Construction and Engineering, Travel and Tourism and IT sector.
