Rangat, Jan 21: On 19/01/2024, credible and specific information was received regarding a shop owner in Nimbutala who is expected to receive a parcel containing illicit ganja which is arriving from Kolkata. Responding promptly, a raiding team led by SDPO Rangat was constituted along with 02 independent witnesses.

Further, it was noticed that a goods truck on its way to delivering goods to shops, arrived at Nimbutala junction for delivery of parcels. The truck unloaded 03 big white colour parcels and 01 no wooden crate at Nimbutala Junction. Noticing the unloaded parcel, an old aged person took the 03 white colour parcels to his shop. Watching this closely, the team conducted raid at the shop where those 03 parcels were taken. During the search of 03 parcels, one brown colour paper packet which was suspected to be containing ganja was found in one of the parcels. Later the leafy like substance found inside the brown packet was tested by drug testing kit and it showed the positive result for cannabis. On weighing the packet, it was of 500 grams illicit Ganja and the same was immediately seized under the cover of seizure memo. A case was registered at PS Rangat under NDPS act against the accused Arjun Das S/o Late Nihar Kanti Das, 62 Yrs, Shopkeeper R/o Nimbutala, and the investigation is underway.

The whole operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District. The North & Middle Andaman District Police continues its mission to ensure a secure and drug-free environment for all residents.
