Port Blair, Jan 25: On 25th January 2024, Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Secretary, PBMC accompanied by Smti S. Selvi, Chairperson, Joint Secretary, PBMC and the Ward Councillor of Ward No. 23, conducted a visit to the aforementioned ward along with PBMC officials. During the visit, Secretary PBMC emphasized the importance of collecting segregated waste from citizens along all routes within the area.

A significant concern was raised regarding drains being clogged with accumulated waste, obstructing the free flow of water. In response, instructions were issued to the Sanitary Inspector to launch an awareness campaign in the ward, urging residents to refrain from disposing of waste in drains and to provide segregated waste for proper disposal by sanitation staff.

Additionally, directives were given to identify all vulnerable garbage points, clean the areas and revitalize them to discourage citizens from dumping garbage in those locations. The Executive Engineer (Water) was tasked with connecting a borewell to the pipeline, capable of drawing 1.5 lakh litres of water, to ensure a stable water supply for the area. Necessary repair work was also instructed to be carried out to restore functionality. This initiative aims to enhance cleanliness, water supply and overall environmental well-being in Ward No. 23.
