Port Blair, Jan 25: It has been reported that certain criminal, anti-social elements or terrorists, inimical to India may pose a threat to the safety of general public, dignitaries and vital installations by the use of sub-conventional aerial platforms like para-gliders, para-motors, hand gliders, UAVs, UASs, microlight aircrafts, remotely piloted aircrafts, hot air balloons, small size powered aircrafts, Chinese Lalten, quadcopters or even by para jumping from aircraft etc.

It is necessary to take suitable security measures in this regard keeping in view the celebration of Republic Day- 2024. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, Smti Veditha Reddy, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has prohibited the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms like para-gliders, para-motors, hand gliders, UAVs, UASs, microlight aircrafts, remotely piloted aircrafts, hot air balloons, small size powered aircrafts, quadcopters or para jumping from aircraft etc. from 26th  January till 29th  January , 2024 upto 1900 hrs in the area of Port Blair Tehsil due to Republic Day Celebrations-2024 and doing so shall be punishable under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

The order to this effect issued by DM (SA) has come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force upto 29th January, 2024 till the completion of celebration of Republic Day -2024. It shall extend to the entire area/jurisdiction of Port Blair Tehsil.
