Port Blair, Jan 25: National Girl Child Day, an initiative of the ministry of women and child development, is celebrated every year on January 24th to spread awareness about the challenges that girls face. “Girls are the architects of change, and their dreams have the power to transform societies”.

In order to support and uplift every girl’s aspirations, Pankh organised a session that was held for the inmates of Bethany Home, Garacharma. A sketching competition to depict their dreams on paper for the girls at RGT Public School, RGT Road was also organised.

The session by Mrs. Komal Anand, mainly focussed on awareness about the importance of mental and physical health that impacts on their growth in life. Fitness lessons also given to the girls regarding the changes that occur in them during the adolescence age. Basic knowledge on how health plays a vital role in their life and importance to balance all these factors that directly influence their lifestyle.

The girls of RGT Public School shared their dreams and what they would like to pursue in future. Girls shared views on inspiring roles of women in society and changes that could be brought in and around to empower women. This was followed by distribution of prizes. These programmes were held in the presence of founder president Komal Anand Pankh, Incharge Bethany home, Principal RGT Public School, other teachers and members of Pankh.
