Port Blair, Jan 25: It is a matter of great honour and pride for A&N Police that Six (06) of its officers have been conferred prestigious ‘President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service’ and ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service’ for their illustrious and unblemished service on the occasion of 75th Republic Day, 2024. The awards were announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the eve of the Republic Day, 2024.

Sh. R. Vinod Kumar, SI(GD) IRBn     

Sh. R. Vinod Kumar initially had joined A&N Police as Police Constable (Exe.) in the year 1987. Later, in view of his outstanding performance, he was taken on deputation to IRBn as Assistant Sub-Inspector and then promoted to the rank of Sub-Inspector GD on 10/04/2015. In his 35 years of service, he has always shown extraordinary dedication, industry and highest standards of integrity, in every task entrusted to him. He was promoted to the rank of Sub-Inspector in the year 2012 due to his hard work. In appreciation of his good work and dedication rendered throughout his service career, he has been conferred the ‘President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service’

Sh. Ajay Kr. Rai, DANIPS         

Shri Ajay Kr. Rai, DANIPS had Joined A&N Police in the year of 1987 as a Sub-Inspector and posted in various Police Stations/Units of A&N Police. Later promoted to the rank of Inspector and in 2016, he was inducted into DANIPS Cadre. Presently holding the charge of Dy.SP (Traffic). In his current role he is playing a vital role in ensuring road safety, enforcing traffic laws and promoting safe driving practices. His involvement in the Smart City initiative and the Integrated Command and Control Center project reflects his commitment to promote use of technology for public safety. In recognition of his unblemished records, continuous excellent and dedicated performance and professionalism, Shri Ajay Kr. Rai, DANIPS has been conferred the ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service’.

Sh. S. Sundar Rajan, SI(Store), Police Radio Org.

Sh. S. Sundar Rajan had joined A&N Police Radio Organization on 16.07.1990 as HC-RO. Subsequently, promoted to the rank of SI. After acquiring training from various institutions, he played key role in streamlining the works of Police Radio Store and other office works. In recognition of his hard work and dedication towards duties, he has been conferred the ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service’.  

Sh. R. Chandar Sekaran, Head Constable/46

Sh. R. Chandar Sekaran had joined A&N Police as Police Constable during the year 1992 and was promoted to the rank of Head Constable on 09.09.2009. As Head Constable, he has investigated many cases and submitted Charge Sheet in the Hon’ble Court in stipulated time period and maximum cases resulted in conviction. In recognition of his hard work and dedication towards his duties, he has been conferred the ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service’.  

Sh. P. Senthil Kumar, Head Constable/2409

Sh. P. Senthil Kumar had joined A&N Police as Police Constable during the year 2002 and was promoted to the rank of Head Constable on 24.01.2011. He had served in various units of Andaman & Nicobar Police and performed his duties with utmost dedication and sincerity. In recognition of his hard work and dedication towards his duties, he has been conferred the ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service’.

Sh. Dinesh Tutty, Head Constable(GD), IRBn

Sh. Dinesh Tutty had joined India Reserve Battalion, A&N Islands on 15.07.2004. Subsequently promoted to the rank of Head Constable (GD) on 1301.2010. He has performed his duty at various LOPs and Static Guards. He has actively participated in several Anti-poaching operations carried out by the IRBn. In recognition of his hard work and dedication towards his duties, he has been conferred the ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service’.

Sh. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, DGP, A&N Islands and all ranks of A&N Police complimented all the awardees for the distinctions conferred on them and bringing honour to A&N Police. They wished them success for their future career.
