Port Blair, Jan 28: The Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) in co-ordination with Blood Centre, G.B. Pant Hospital, Directorate of Health Services, supported Mukhyalaya Tatrakshak Kshetra Headquarters, Coast Guard Region (A & N), Port Blair to organize a blood donation camp at Spectrum Indoor Sport Complex, Panipath Road, Haddo, Port Blair on 25/01/2024 on the occasion of 48th Coast Guard Raising Day. Altogether 60 units of blood were donated by the voluntary donors.

The camp was organized under the guidance of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society and Director, State Blood Transfusion Council, A & N Islands. 

The Blood Donation camp was facilitated by the Dr. Shahina Mustaquim, Deputy Director (BS)/Medical Officer i/c, G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair. The donors were examined for their eligibility to donated blood and briefed the donors on various aspect and importance of blood donation.

Shri. Amit Thakur, Surg. Cdr, Regional Medical officer, Mukhyalaya Tatrakshak Kshetra Headquarters, Coast Guard Region (A&N), Port Blair organized the camps and made arrangement for conducting the camp successfully.

The technical team from Blood Bank, G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair and A&N AIDS Control Society ensured that the donated blood units were screened for the blood transmissible diseases. They also examined the donors for eligibility criteria. Donors certificate were also distributed to the voluntary donors.
