Port Blair, Jan. 29: In a ceremonious event, the EVM Mobile Demonstration Van was officially flagged off by Ms. Veditha Reddy, District Election Officer (South Andaman)/Returning Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency from the premises of Office of the District Administration, South Andaman. This significant initiative has been undertaken to create awareness about the use of EVM among the general public for the forthcoming General Election-2024. The Mobile Demonstration Van is equipped with EVM and knowledgeable personnel, making it a mobile hub for educating citizen on the functioning and reliability of EVMs.

Simultaneously, the EVM Demonstration Centre was also activated in the Office of the District Administration, South Andaman to serve as a dedicated space for individuals for seeking hands on experience with the electoral technology. This centre aims to expose the voting process and address any query the public may have regarding EVMs.

The comprehensive role of this initiative is to foster transparency and trust in the electoral process by empowering citizen with knowledge about the technology that plays a pivotal role in shaping their democratic choices. This physical outreach programme aspires to create a more informed electorate in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
