Port Blair, Jan. 29: The ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’-2024 programme was screened live in the auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE) here today by the Education Department of A&N Administration. Joining the students, teachers and parents, Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency also witnessed the programme. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Ms Nandini Paliwal, IAS, Secretary (Education), Ms Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Ms Veditha Reddy, IAS, SP(SA), Shri Kalaivanan R, IPS, Director (Education), Shri Aditya Kumar Jha and other senior officers of the Administration were also present on the occasion.

School students drawn from different schools of the town area witnessed the live ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ programme, drawing inspiration from the motivational words of the Hon’ble Prime Minister. Simultaneously, elaborate arrangements were also made by the Education Department for the live screening of the programme in all the schools spread across the Islands. The programme was witnessed by students from class VI to VIII, IX & XI and the students of class X & XII who will be appearing for the board exams.

Earlier, welcoming the gathering, the Secretary (Education), Ms Pallavi Sarkar said, today’s programme has been organized to witness this year’s edition of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’, as it is the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister to make learning more joyful and less stressful for the future nation builders and also to apprise them of more choices for growth and opportunities in the country.  She informed that two students from the North and Middle Andaman District viz. Anshu Das and Monisha Roy of class IX of Govt. Secondary School Mohanpur-5, a far flung area of the Islands, have been selected to participate in the Pariksha Pe Charcha-2024 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi today along with an escort teacher. These students had the privilege of witnessing the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path at New Delhi on Jan. 26 and also the Beating Retreat. Apart from this, for the first time, a question from a parent named Smti Bhagyalaxmi, mother of B Pooja of Class VII of GDMS Secondary School, Middle Point has been selected by the Ministry of Education and on 25th January, an interview of the parent was also taken by the Ministry of Education personnel directly.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by the Director, Education, Shri Aditya Kumar Jha.
