Rangat, Feb 4: D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee visited Billiground, Swadesh Nagar and Shivapuram areas on 2nd February 2024 and met a number of PRI functionaries of the area and important persons.  

In the evening Ayyappan, who is also the Vice President of CITU A & N State Committee, addressed two meetings of the workers at Betapur. Addressing the workers, Ayyappan said that the BJP government at the centre has rejected the proposal sent by the A & N Administration for regularization of the services of the daily rated mazdoors working under the Administration despite the commitment made in the Supreme Court. He said that the Administration had assured the Supreme Court in the case Admiral DK Joshi-vs-ASNVNS that services of all the 7524 DRMs working in various departments under the Administration will be regularized. He called upon the workers to participate in the proposed agitations to be organized by CITU demanding regularization of the services of DRMs.   

PK Khalid, Secretary, CITU A & N State Committee and Rahul Dev Mridha, President, DYFI A&N State Organising Committee Member also addressed the meetings of workers. SR Mridha, State Secretary, All India Kisan Sabha and V. Sambamoorthy, Works Committee Member were also present in the meeting. A large number of workers from APWD, Forest and other departments attended the meetings. 

Addressing the CPI (M) workers and sympathizers at Nimbudera, Ayyappan expressed concern over the lack of interest shown by the BJP government and Congress MP towards the problems faced by the people of North and Middle Andaman. He termed the renovation work of NH4 by NHIDCL as the biggest corruption in Andaman & Nicoabar Islands. Nikunjo Biswas, CPI (M) State Secretariat Member criticized the Modi government for its failure for resolving the long-pending grievances of the people of Middle Andaman.
