Port Blair, Feb 4: Shri Ajoy Bairagi, State President Bharatiya Janata Party along with senior leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party accorded a warm welcome to Padma Shri awardee Smti S Chellammal today at VSI Airport. Along with the State President, following members were present, Shri M Vinod, State Vice President & Prabhari SM, IT and Media, Smti Sunita Sarkar, State Secretary, Smti Sheela Singh, State Vice President & NEM Mahila Morcha, Smti Sampa Banerjee, State President BJ Mahila Morcha, Shri Vardharajan, State President BJ Kisan Morcha, Shri N k Udhaya Kumar, State President, State President BJYM along with large number of karyakartas.

She was conferred with Padma Shri awards this year for successfully developing a 10 acres organic farm in South Andaman. She used intercropping method for cultivation of Clove, Ginger, Pineapple, Banana and motivated more than 150 farmers to adopt it. She also devised innovative & economical solutions for coconut and Palm trees damage control measures.
