Kalighat Feb 7: A team of PS Kalighat apprehended two individuals and seized a substantial quantity of illicit liquor. In addition, the team confiscated a significant quantity of Lehan in the dense forest of Haren Nallah, under the jurisdiction of PS Kalighat.

On 06.02.2024, in response to information regarding the production of illicit liquor, a team led by SI Silpi Singha, SHO PS Kalighat, along with PCs Sushil Sarkar, Subrata Biswas, and Eileen, started a challenging journey of 60 km through sea, land, and unfavorable terrain to reach the Haren Nallah forest. The team conducted a raid in the dense jungle of Haren Nallah and successfully seized a significant quantity of 520 liters of Lahan, which was stored in iron and plastic drums. They also discovered various utensils and Bhatti articles used for the preparation of illicit liquor, cleverly hidden within the depths of the jungle. All confiscated items were promptly destroyed.

Upon completing their raid, while returning to the PS, the team noticed two individuals named Ashok Halder, S/o Sh. Jadu Halder, 39 yrs, R/o Paschimsagar, and Rajib Das, S/o Sh. Anil Das, 31 yrs, R/o R.K. Gram. These individuals were found carrying 10 liters of illicit liquor. They were intercepted and subjected to thorough interrogation. As a result, the team promptly seized the 10 liters of illicit liquor and both individuals were booked under Excise case. This diligent and determined effort dealt a severe blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.

The entire operation was carried out under the vigilant supervision of Dr. Chandra Prakash Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur, and the overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.
