Diglipur, Feb 9: A strategy of jungle search has been adopted in N&MA District as a part of zero-tolerance against bootlegging. In the recent past, several jungle search operations were carried out; the operation has yielded excellent results in recovering Illicit Liquor/Lehan and apprehending the offenders.

On 09/02/2024, in a major crackdown against bootlegging activities and the menace of illicit liquor, Police team of PS Kalighat consisting of PCs Sushil Sarkar and Subrata Biswas trekked deep inside dense forest of Parangara forest and destroyed around 300 litres of Lehan kept in two iron drums along-with raw material, utensils and other bhatti articles used for preparation of illicit liquor. Subsequently, all confiscated items were promptly destroyed, dealing a major blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.

The operation was carried out under the vigilant supervision of Sh. Chandra Prakash Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur, and the overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.
