Patna, Feb 11: R Kashthuri Bhai, a student of GDMS Port Blair and an ace chess player from A & N Islands, secured the fifth position in the girls under-17 category in the 12th National School Chess Championship 2024 that concluded at the Gyan Bhavan in Patna, Bihar, yesterday.
She played brilliantly and scored six points with four wins and four draws from nine rounds and secured the fifth position in the girls under-17 category in the National School Chess Championship 2024. She was awarded a medal, cash prize and a certificate.
Around 900 players from all over India participated in the championship in various age groups. Apart from Kashthuri, D Shrestha Vijay of Carmel Sr Sec School Port Blair, J S Virat and J Keerthana of VKV Lambaline, Chittiboina Mageswari of GMSSS Port Blair, Krishnapriya B Rajesh of Sagritara and Disha Meenakshi of KV 1 of A & N Islands also participated in the event and performed well.
