Andaman & Nicobar Leads with 2721 Appointment Letters Distributed, Being the Highest in States & UTs

Port Blair, Feb 12: The UT of Andaman and Nicobar has so far conducted two Rozgar Melas in close succession i.e., on 26.09.2023 with 865 Offers of Appointment given and subsequently on 30.11.2023, 258 Offers of Appointment were distributed at the hands of Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.

Today, again, it has been a matter of immense pride for this UT that with the concerted efforts of UT Administration under the leadership of Hon'ble Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the UT Administration has consecutively the third time been the torch-bearer in leading the Rozgar Mela nationwide which was spread-over 46 different locations among the various States and UTs with the highest number of Offers of Appointment i.e., 2721 numbers been distributed at the hands of Shri Som Parkash, I.A.S (Retd.), Hon'ble Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, GoI  being the chief guest and Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon'ble Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency, being the  guest of honour at the historic Netaji Stadium in this UT, so as to fulfill the promise of Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi to provide Govt. jobs to nearly 1 Million people.

Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Chief Secretary of A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, Dr. T.S. Ashok Kumar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva, Director General of Police, Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, and senior officers and employees of the Administration also graced the occasion.

A ‘grand and historic’ third ‘Rozgar Mela’ was organized by A&N Administration at Netaji Stadium here today. The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi participated in this nationwide ‘Rozgar Mela’ through video conferencing at 46 different locations across the country.

Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Shri. Som Parkash, IAS (Retd.) expressed his extreme pleasure and appreciated the efforts made by UT Administration in organizing the Rozgar Melas at such a mass scale which has been 'unprecedented & flawless' and stated that the Union Govt. under the dynamic leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister is committed to provide employment opportunities to the unemployed youth in mission mode. He mentioned that these remote Islands are in fact the "Paavan Karma-Bhoomi" of freedom fighters where even people from Punjab have made in-numerable sacrifices and played pivotal role in our freedom struggle.

The Minister made a special mention of the fact that today, India under the able & dynamic leadership of our Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji has become 5th largest economy surpassing many developed countries like England and will soon become the 3rd largest economy globally by surpassing Japan and Germany. He also stated that recently, till 2015, more than 70% of the mobile phones were manufactured outside and imported in the country. However, within a period of 10 years or so, more than 90% of these phones are manufactured indigenously in our country including the renowned i-phones. He also praised the successful conduct of G-20 Summit which has positioned India in a new global leadership position.

In his address on the occasion, the Hon'ble Lt. Governor welcomed the chief guest, Shri Som Parkash, Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce and Industry for gracing the function by visiting the territory for the first time.    The Lt. Governor further stated that during the last one year of our post-independence period of "Amrit Kaal", lot many developments have taken place among which, conduct of series of ‘Rozgar Melas’ at the national level is one of the most significant event. During last two ‘Rozgar Melas’, this UT was leading. Even today, with 2721 offers of appointments being given, the UT will have the highest number of job offers being distributed at a public function in the entire nation. This is possible not entirely with the efforts of UT Administration but also lot many agencies have contributed towards it including Staff Selection Commission and NIC. He said that he would not hesitate to make special mention of the officers of this UT Administration, who have worked tirelessly during last one year or so to achieve this ardent goal under the leadership of the Chief Secretary. He hoped that all the youth of this UT including those who are receiving the appointment letters today shall contribute to fulfill the dream of Hon'ble Prime Minister of "Viksit Bharat".

In his address on the occasion, the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration expressed his gratitude towards Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, Shri Som Parkash, IAS (Retd.), Hon'ble Chief Guest and Hon'ble Lt. Governor, Admiral DK Joshi and stated that under their concerted directions and guidance, the recruitment process could be made so seamless and successful.

He informed that this is the only Union Territory in the entire Country among the States and UTs in which, highest number of appointment letters (865) were distributed during the first Nationwide ‘Rozgar Mela’ held on 26.09.2023, 258 offers of appointments were distributed during the 2nd ‘Rozgar Mela’ held on 30.11.2023 and today, again, this UT stands first in position nationwide by offering 2721 offers of appointment to the unemployed youth. He also mentioned about his firm belief that the new change, development and growth which shall be harbingered by these Youth by protecting our rich culture and heritage by their firm determination, hard work and capabilities.

The Chief Secretary further stated that it will be their responsibility to keep the Nation first and to work towards public good as well as welfare of the masses for National development. He wished all the selected candidates, a bright future. He also desired that they should contribute selflessly for all round growth and development of the country so as to fulfill the vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister of "Viksit Bharat" which shall be fully advanced and self-sustaining with "inclusive growth". He also expressed his sincere gratitude towards the chief guest, Shri Som Parkash, Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce and Industry for gracing the function and motivating the Youth.

At the beginning of the program, Commissioner-cum-Secretary A&N Administration, Smt. Nandini Paliwal welcomed the Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Shri Som Parkash, IAS (Retd.) and Hon'ble Lt. Governor, Admiral DK Joshi, for gracing the grand function at Netaji Stadium. She also welcomed the Hon’ble MP, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Chief Secretary, the DGP, the PCCF and other distinguished guests present along with the selected candidates and their parents & guardians for making the function successful. She also welcomed the media and other agencies for their coverage on the 3rd ‘Grand Rozgar Mela’.

The public function concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Anil Agarwal, Secretary (Labour and Employment) and Special Secretary (Personnel) of A&N Administration, who offered heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, under whose sustained guidance and inspiration, the nationwide ‘Rozgar Melas’ of this magnitude could be launched at various locations so as to provide massive employment opportunities to the unemployed Youth. He also expressed sincere gratitude towards Shri Som Parkash, Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, being the chief guest, Hon'ble Lt. Governor, Admiral DK Joshi, being the guest of honour, for gracing the event by their presence.

He also thanked Hon'ble MP, A&N Islands, the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests A&N Administration and other Senior Officers and staffs of this Administration for making this program highly successful. Further, he also thanked all the other distinguished guests and newly appointed candidates and their respective gurus and parents who had helped them in making their dreams come true.
