Port Blair, Feb 16: Andaman & Nicobar Police and IITM Collaborate to Enhance Tourist Police Proficiency. In a concerted effort to bolster the capabilities and sensitivity of Tourist Police Personnel, the Andaman & Nicobar Police, under the esteemed guidance of Shri. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police, collaborated with the Indian Institute of Tourism Management, Bhubneswar, Odisha, to conduct a comprehensive Training-Cum-Sensitization Programme from February 10th to February 16th, 2024.

The programme, meticulously designed and executed by esteemed professionals, aimed to equip Tourist Police Personnel with essential skills and knowledge crucial for delivering superior services to visiting tourists while ensuring their welfare. Facilitators including Dr. Lalit Das, ADGP, Odisha, Dr. Adayasha Das, Programme Coordinator; Dr. Subramanium, Assistant Professor at IITM; and Shri. Firoz Khan, Manager, IP&T, delivered insightful sessions covering a spectrum of topics such as Police Behaviour, Handling Emergency Situations, Communication Skills, Personal Development, and Etiquette.

In addition to classroom sessions, the programme incorporated field darshan to provide practical exposure and enhance understanding. A total of 31 Police personnel of A & N Police benefitted from the immersive training experience.

Expressing his vision for enhanced police services, Shri. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, DGP, A&N Islands, emphasized the importance of skill development and sensitivity in catering to the needs of tourists. He presided over the valedictory session, where Course Completion Certificates were distributed to the participants. The event witnessed the presence of distinguished guests including Smti. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS, DIGP (Training), Shri. Manjeet Sheoran, IPS, Principal (PTS), Shri. M.K. Shukla, DANIPS, Vice Principal (PTS); Dr. Subramanium, Assistant Professor, IITM; and Shri. Firoz Khan, Manager, IP&T.
