Port Blair, Feb 18: Indian Naval Ship Cheriyam, an indigenously built water Jet Fast Attack Craft, participated in the 37th Indo-Thai Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) with His Majesty’s Thailand Ship Prachuap Khiri Khan (552), an offshore patrol vessel from 14-15 Feb 24. The ships underwent various exercises to enhance coordination and reinforce maritime links between the two countries, ensuring a safe and secure Indian Ocean Region while upholding freedom of navigation and suppressing unlawful activities.

India and Thailand have been conducting coordinated patrols along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) twice in a year, aiming to keep this vital part of Indian Ocean Region safe and secure for commercial shipping, international trade and legitimate maritime activities. CORPATs have successfully suppressed Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, drug trafficking, maritime terrorism, armed robbery and piracy.
