Kadamtala, Feb 19: In a decisive move on 19/02/2024, the vigilant team at PS Kadamtala acted upon credible information regarding the arrival of an individual at Kadamtala Bazaar for the illicit sale of venison. The operation, led by SI P.M Krishna Kumar, SHO PS Kadamtala, HC Pradeep Das, PCs Sikendar Khan, Sevika Xalxo and Palani, successfully intercepted the suspect.

The suspect, identified as Subendu Kumar Mondal, was observed carrying 02 heavy plastic bags going behind the Bengali Hotel, Kadamtala in suspicious manner. A noticeable hesitation and quick retreat upon spotting the police led to the team's suspicion. A thorough search of the bags revealed wildlife-protected red meat, suspected to be venison.

During interrogation, Subendu Kumar Mondal @ Bappa S/o Late Bijay Mondal (37) yrs, DRM APWD R/o Kadamtala, admitted to possess venison meat. In light of the prima facie evidence and the commission of a cognizable offence under the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972, the venison meat weighing about 32 kg was confiscated and the involved person was apprehended by SI P.M Krishna Kumar, SHO PS Kadamtala.

The information about apprehension of involved person and confiscated meat was relayed to Bajalungta Range Forest Officials and later both the confiscated meat and the apprehended individual were handover to forest officials for further necessary action.

The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Chandra Prakash Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Rangat and overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.
