Port Blair, Feb 20: As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, in view of upcoming General Elections to Lok Sabha - 2024, a UT level awareness programme on Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) is underway to provide citizens with a first-hand experience of the voting process and familiarity with machines.

As per the schedule, the Mobile Demonstration Van today visited Polling Station Numbers 33 to 35, 85, 86, 103, 110, 114, 115, 160, 161, 179 to 186, 328, 329, 344 and 345 to create awareness among general public about the basic features of EVMs & VVPATs.

Similarly, on 20.02.2024, the Mobile Demonstration Van will visit Polling Station Number 20 (Sitanagar-1), 21 (Sitanagar-2), 30 to 32 (R K Gram 1 to 3), 104 (Bakultala-1), 105 (Bakultala-2), 106 (Shyamkund), 162 & 163 (New Bimblitan), 187 & 188 (JNRM), 330 & 331 (GPS, New Manglutan) Ferrargunj Tehsil, 346 (GMS, Rabindra Nagar), Little Andaman Tehsil).

The awareness programme is aimed at imparting knowledge about the basic features of EVMs and VVPATs, elucidating the step-by-step procedure of casting votes and educating voters on how to verify their choices through the VVPAT-Slip. Awareness through physical demonstration fosters deeper understanding of EVM & VVPAT functionality and is instrumental in dispelling misconceptions, boosting voter confidence and ensuring a more informed and participative electorate.

The Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri B S Jaglan, IAS has requested all citizens of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to visit EVM Demonstration Centres and Mobile Demonstration Van to aware themselves the procedure of casting votes.
