Campbell Bay, Feb 20: Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, accompanied by Hon’ble LG of Andaman & Nicobar Islands (ANI), Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM, NM (Retd.) visited southern group of Islands on 20 Feb 2024. Upon arrival at INS Baaz, the southernmost Military airfield, she was warmly received by the Commander-in-Chief Andaman & Nicobar Command (CINCAN), Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, AVSM, VM.

Subsequently, the Hon’ble President along with Hon’ble LG and CINCAN, proceeded to Indira Point- the southernmost tip of India. There, she was welcomed by Army Component Commander (ARCC), Brig Rajesh Sharma, SC and other civil administration dignitaries. Interacting with joint services troops at Indira Point, the President appreciated their dedication towards safeguarding national interests.

The visit also included halts at Car Nicobar Island, where the Hon’ble President received a briefing on Great Nicobar Islands, infrastructure projects and Andaman & Nicobar Command’s (ANC) efforts to safeguard national interests. Upon return, she visited INS Baaz where she had lunch with ANC troops, thereby acknowledging their contributions towards nation’s security.

This visit highlighted the strategic importance of the region and highlighted ANC’s vital role in safeguarding national interests.
