Port Blair, Feb 22: The Women Helpline-181 organized a Webinar on ‘Women and Child Development Control Room and on Menstrual Health Hygiene and on Breast Cancer’ under the Directorate of Social Welfare. Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (SW), emphasized on health and hygiene in our day to day life.  With the rising population levels, pollution levels, emission of harmful gases, it has to be a priority for everyone to maintain their health and hygiene, he said. For the human body, health is a positive state where every part of the mind and body is in harmony.

The Webinar was addressed by Dr. N Nazia Rasheed, Ex- SMO/FAM/PGDCC on health and hygiene and awareness on breast cancer. She highlighted about menstrual hygiene management, types of menstrual products and their uses. Through a powerpoint presentation she briefed on how to reduce risk of breast cancer symptoms with early detection and prevention, and how to do a self-breast examination.

Women Helpline Administrator, Smti Sushma Pandey, briefed about the Women and Child Development 24x7 Control Room established at Social Welfare Board, VIP Road, Junglighat with the Toll Free Number 181 for women and 1098 for children. She said, Women Helpline 181 under Mission Shakti scheme intends to provide toll free24×7 immediate and emergency response to women affected by violence through referral linking with appropriate authority such as Police, One Stop Centre, hospital and provide information about women related Government schemes programs across the country through a single uniform number.

The program was attended by PBMC Ward Councillor, representatives of PRIs, NGOs representative, ANM, AWWs, ASHA Worker, SHGs and staff of Social Welfare Department, Women Helpline, Child Helpline, and One Stop Centre.
