Port Blair, Feb. 26: In view of the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha 2024, the Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri B S Jaglan, IAS today called a meeting in the Mini Conference Hall of Secretariat with Returning Officer, ANIPC, all District Election Officers, Nodal Officers of State Police Department, Income Tax, State Excise Department, Indian Coast Guard, State Good and Services Tax/Commercial Tax, Central Industrial Security Force, Forest Department, Airport Authority of India, State Civil Aviation Department, State Level Bankers, Department of Post and Officers of Election Department.

During the meeting, the CEO discussed on the issues of IT Application Training Session for Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The participants of meeting were made aware on the use of Election Seizure Management System (ESMS) and c-Vigil Application through PPT presentation.

ESMS Application has been developed by ECI for reporting seizure on real time basis. The main objective of this application to digitize data for intercepted/Seized items (Cash/Liquor/Drugs/Precious Metal/Freebies/Other Items) direct from field through Mobile Application. The Data Entry process for intercept/Seizure and responsibility of CEO, DEO, State Nodal Officers, District Nodal Officers, Banks was discussed.

While cVigil mobile application developed by the Election Commission of India enables citizens to report violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during elections.  The role of CEO, RO, DEO, FSTs on reporting by citizens through cVigil application was also discussed.
