Port Blair, Feb 26: The Port Blair City Area Committee of CPI (M) has conducted corner meetings at various parts of the Port Blair town on 25th and 26th February, 2024 on the issues of (1) intermittent power cut (2) deplorable condition of urban roads (3) price rise, (4) On failure of Smart City Projects, etc.
Addressing the corner meeting at Calicut junction today (26th February, 2024), D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee said that the BJP-led government at the centre has failed in all spheres and pointed out that none of the problems faced by the people of these islands has been solved during the 10-year rule of the Narendra Modi. He said that unemployment is increasing in the islands and the government has failed to create any new job for the unemployed local youth. He further said that during the 10-year rule of Narendra Modi, prices of all essential items have increased abnormally. He further said that the Sangh Parivar is creating rift in the society and said that it is the CPI (M) which has been challenging the communal politics of Narendra Modi. He called upon the people to support the CPI (M) in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election as Congress has utterly failed to challenge the Sangh Parivar.
Speaking in the corner meetings, D. Laxman Rao, State Secretarat Member of the CPI (M) criticized the BJP-controlled Port Blair Municipal Council for its failure to implement the Smart City Projects in the Port Blair town. He also expressed concern over the increasing corruption in the PBMC and Panchayat-raj institutions in the islands.
Speaking at the corner meetings, SP Kalairajan, State Organising Committee Member of the Party came down heavily on the BJP-controlled A & N Administration for harassing the workers in the Forest Department and Port Blair Municipal Council. He further said that while in the Forest Department, the 1/30th of pay plus DA Scheme has not been implemented even after the Court order, a large number of DRMs of PBMC are yet to get the said benefit.
Addressing the meetings, NKP Nair, CPI (M) Port Blair City Area Committee Member explained the anti-working class attitude on the part of the A & N Administration. KG Samkutty, Port Blair Area Committee Member also addressed the meeting.
