Port Blair, Feb. 26: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, today inaugurated a Community Hall at Mile Tilak, constructed by Zilla Parishad South Andaman. The Chief Secretary unveiled the plaque in the presence of the Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Up-Adhyaksh, Shri Boominathan, CEO, ZPSA, Ms. Smitha R, PRI members and villagers of the area marking the inauguration of the Community Hall.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary said that the effort of the ZPSA in creating assets for the rural populace is visible in the development of a spacious Community Hall, which will enable the people of Mile Tilak and its adjoining areas to organize public and social functions. He stated that in public service, dedication and transparency is important and whatever project we take up, it has to be completed maintaining utmost transparency. The Chief Secretary appreciated the Adhyaksh ZPSA and Engineering Wing of ZPSA for creating the asset and the people of Mile Tilak for their support and co-operation in the establishment of this much needed asset. He further urged the people to contribute their mite to take these Islands in the path of progress and prosperity.

In his address on the occasion, the Adhyaksh ZPSA, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh said, the inauguration of the Community Hall has fulfilled the long pending demand of the people of Mile Tilak besides, benefitting about 250 residents of adjacent Jirkatang area. He said that with the active support of A&N Administration under the able guidance of Chief Secretary, the ZPSA has been able to take up various developmental activities. ZPSA has received the funds from Administration on time for taking up various public oriented works for the benefit of the people of rural areas, he said.

In her address, the CEO, ZPSA, Ms. Smitha R, IAS, thanked the Chief Secretary for inaugurating this asset created by ZPSA fulfilling the dreams of the residents of Mile Tilak area.

A colourful cultural programme presented by the students of ZPVKV, Ferrargunj drew loud applause from the audience. The Chief Secretary also presented memento to the students and faculty of the ZPVKV, Ferrargunj.

The single storied Community Hall at Mile Tilak having a seating capacity of 200 people has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 77.14 lakh in twelve months’ time.

The function concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by the ZP Member, Ferrargunj, Shri Abdul Bashir.
