Port Blair, March 4: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has demanded construction of a modern bus terminus in Diglipur Bazaar area.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, he emphasized the pressing need for adequate transportation infrastructure to serve the significant population of Diglipur.

He mentioned that regions such as Rangat and Bambooflat have already received modern bus terminuses and Islanders of those regions are experiencing major relief. He argued that Diglipur, too, deserves similar amenities, particularly in the Diglipur Bazaar area, to cater to the transportation needs of its residents.

The absence of a proper bus stand in Diglipur has led to inconvenience for locals, especially during adverse weather conditions. He pointed out that a modern bus terminus would provide shelter from the scorching sun and heavy rain, offering much-needed respite to commuters, including students who currently have to wait under makeshift shelters or in front of shops.

The Member of Parliament underscored the importance of infrastructure development in light of anticipated growth in tourism. With the completion of two major bridges on NH4, tourism in the region is expected to witness a significant boost. Therefore, he stressed the urgency of establishing a modern bus terminus in Diglipur to accommodate the influx of tourists and ensure their convenience.
