Port Blair, March 5: Ms. Nameeta Prasad, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India; Dr. A.A. Mao, Director, Botanical Survey of India, Kolkata and Member of Research, Advisory, & Monitoring Committee (RAMC), Botanical Survey of India, visited Zoological Survey of India, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre, Regional Museum of ZSI on 28th February 2024 and proposed site for National Coral Reef Research Institute (NCRRI) at Beodnabad on 1st March 2024. 

At the outset, Dr. C. Sivaperuman, Scientist-E & Officer-in-Charge, extended a warm welcome to the Joint Secretary and other distinguished members. Dr. Sivaperuman has made detailed presentation on the activities & achievements of ZSI, Port Blair. 

The Joint Secretary, remarked that the ZSI, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre is contributing tremendously towards the knowledge of the faunal diversity of terrestrial and marine ecosystem of this islands for which it needs to be complimented. She further stressed that continuous monitoring of coral reef ecosystems, besides other endemic faunal diversity particularly. 

The Director, BSI, Dr. C.R. Babu, Chairman, RAMC, and other members also highly appreciated the works carried out in ZSI and wished for development of proposed NCRRI at Port Blair.
