Port Blair, Mar. 7: With a view to revive the art of 'phag singing' in these Islands, the Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration organised a programme of Faag Holi songs at Andaman Club here this evening.

The tradition of Faag singing in India is a folk art form where singers using simple musical instruments, captivate audiences with their storytelling and melodies. This tradition has deep roots in rural communities, preserving cultural heritage and providing entertainment during Holi celebrations.

Kalapani Faag Mandali led by Ratan Behari Lal and comprising of artistes namely R S Avilash, Sandeep Lall, Raj Govind, Deep Ram, Naresh Kumar, Vikash Lall, Jagjeet, Bhagat Ram, R Sushant, Ettar Singh, Shubham Choudhary, R Subham, Shivavenkatesh, Mahesh Rao, Mukesh Ram, Rajender Narayan and Brain Singh presented Holi songs setting the mood for Holi celebration in the Islands. Dr Jatinder Sohal, Director (Art & Culture) was the chief guest of the evening.
