Port Blair, Mar. 7: To mark the occasion of 53rd National Safety Week, the Department of Labour, A&N Administration conducted an awareness programme on ‘Safety at Workplaces’ at Govt. Industrial Training Institute, Dollygunj today. Dr. Anil Agarwal, Secretary (Labour & Employment) presided over the programme as chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Secretary (Labour & Employment) emphasized on the need to adhere to the laid down safety measures to avert accidents at workplaces. Every year, National Safety Week is celebrated from 4th March to 10th March in India and it serves as a vital platform to raise awareness about Industrial Safety and promote a culture of well-being in workplaces.

A brief presentation was made by the Assistant Labour Commissioner and Inspector of Factories, Department of Labour on the occasion highlighting the various methods of safety measures to be taken at workplaces. The Principal, ITI also briefed the gathering about the importance of adherence of safety measures at workplaces. Altogether 150 trainees of the Govt. ITI, Dollygunj were participated. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Chief Inspector of Factories/Labour Commissioner.
