On March 8th, we commemorate International Women's Day with our steadfast commitment to the theme- "Inspire Inclusion." Andaman and Nicobar UT is actively empowering women for their equal participation in nation-building.

Inclusion is the ongoing process of creating a society where all women, regardless of background or socio-economic status, are respected and empowered to fulfill their potential. Under Prime Minister, Narendra Modiji's leadership, the Union Government is implementing various measures to enhance women's roles. A&N Islands is executing women welfare schemes, such as social security pensions under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, benefiting widows, destitute, elderly, divyangjan, and pregnant/lactating mothers.

Ensuring women's safety during distress, the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) at Toll-Free No. 112 offers comprehensive emergency services under one roof, including police support, medical care, short stay, and legal aid. Sakhi Centres in district headquarters provide counselling and support to women affected by violence, addressing issues like domestic disputes, sexual harassment, child marriage, dowry, trafficking, and missing cases. Working women's hostels and elderly homes create a secure environment, while health schemes like Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan contribute to women's well-being. With a zero-tolerance policy against violence, our law enforcement and volunteers promptly respond to distress calls, ensuring the safety of those in need.

On this occasion, I encourage everyone to honor and acknowledge women, supporting ‘Nari Shakti' in nation-building. Together, let's work towards transforming our society into a developed, civilized, and inclusive space for all.
