Mayabunder, March 8: The North & Middle Andaman District Police, under the esteemed leadership of Superintendent of Police, Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, organized a grand celebration to honor the spirit and achievements of women on the occasion of International Women's Day. The event, held at MGGC, Mayabunder, was aptly themed "ASTITVA - Meri Shaan, Meri Pehchan," emphasizing the unique identity and pride of women.

The event was honored by the esteemed presence of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, who served as the Chief Guest, offering her unwavering support and encouragement to the women of the community. Dr. B Prabhuram, Principal of MGGC, Mayabunder, graced the occasion as the guest of honor, adding further significance to the program with his esteemed presence.

Highlighting the diverse talents and inspiring stories of women from remote and rural areas, the event featured the heartwarming segment "Meri Kahani, Meri Zubani." Through this platform, women shared their personal journeys, struggles, and triumphs, inspiring others with their resilience and determination.

The program also showcased the remarkable skills of Ladies Self-Help Groups, who presented their creations of productive materials and handicrafts. Their entrepreneurial spirit and creativity were on full display, demonstrating the power of women's economic empowerment and self-sufficiency. During the programme five Gyan Sarthi were also facilitated who were selected as mentors in their respective areas for guiding the young minds and students to carter better career.

College students took center stage with their innovative projects, showcasing their creativity in transforming waste into wonders. Their projects underscored the importance of sustainability and environmental conservation, inspiring others to adopt eco-friendly practices.

In addition to celebrating women's achievements, the event aimed to educate and empower college students with knowledge of their rights and legal protections. Sh. Rahul L Nair, IPS, SDPO Rangat, delivered a comprehensive presentation on New Laws & POCSO Act, enlightening students on legal matters and empowering them to navigate the complexities of the legal system confidently.

As a token of appreciation for their invaluable contributions to society, deserving and hardworking women from various fields, including government servants, social workers, and farmers, were felicitated and presented with certificates and mementos. Their dedication and commitment serve as an inspiration to us all, embodying the spirit of women's empowerment and progress. Approximately 650 persons right from Diglipur to Baratang have been participated in this event. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Sh. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur.
