Rangat, March 10: CITU Rangat Zonal Committee has organised a meeting of daily rated workers working in various departments of Rangat and nearby places today (10.03.2024) at Zilla Parishad Auditorium, Rangat, Middle Andaman.

Addressing the meeting, D. Ayyappan, Vice President, CITU State Committee elaborately explained the current status of the demands raised by various unions in APWD, Electricity, PRI, etc. Referring to the demands of the unions for regularization of the services of daily rated workers, he said that the Modi government at the centre has rejected the demand and informed the workers that the CITU has decided to launch a territory-wide agitation by mobilizing the entire workers in the coming months. He called upon the workers to remain united under the banner of CITU. 

He further said that the central government is following anti-working class policies at the behest of corporate sector and said that whatever rights and benefits the workers have enjoyed all these years are being taken away.  

Projit Kumar Sarkar, President, CITU Rangat Zonal Committee while addressing the gathering briefly explained the difficulties being faced by the people of North and Middle Andaman district during the last ten years of Modi rule.  

PK Khalid, Secretary, CITU State Committee, C. Karuppaiah, CITU Zonal Committee and Suseelan, former leader of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers Association also addressed the gathering. A large number of workers from various departments working at Rangat and adjoining areas attended the meeting.
