Port Blair, March 15: The team of Police Station Chatham has once again proved its mettle in the ongoing war against Drugs and booked a person under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 resulting in recovery 50 gms of Illicit Ganja.

On 14/03/2024, a credible information was received from an informer that one person namely P. Sanjay is having illicit ganja in his possession and will come to near Van Sadan Office, Haddo to sell the cannabis (ganja) to a customer. Immediately, a team was constituted comprising Inspector Rasheeda SHO PS Chatham, ASI Taraknath and PC Surfudeen under the supervision of Shri Vikas Swami, IPS, SDPO SA. The team successfully conducted a raid at Haddo near Van Sadan and arrested the person P. Sanjay S/o Shri Paneer Selvam (28 yrs) R/o Haddo and recovered 50 gms of illicit ganja from his possession following due procedure.

The entire raid took place under the supervision of Shri Vikas Swami, IPS, SDPO South Andaman and under the overall direction of Smti. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.

The general public is hereby informed that production/manufacturing/cultivation, possession, sale, purchasing, transport, storage, or consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance is a punishable offense. So everyone is requested to avoid any kind of interaction with illicit drugs drugs and share information pertaining to any such crime or other illegal activities to Police at 112, 03192-232100 & 03192-233077. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
