Port Blair, March 17: Consequent upon announcement of General Election-2024, attention of all concerned have been invited towards the envisaged provisions provided under Section 127-A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. Section 127-A states that:

1) “No person shall print or publish, or cause to be printed or published, any election pamphlet or poster which does not bear on its face the names and addresses of the printer and the publisher thereof.

2) No person shall print or cause to be printed any election pamphlet or poster

-Unless a declaration as to the identity of publisher thereof, signed by him and attested by two persons to whom he is personally known, is delivered by him to the printer in duplicate....”

As such the aforesaid provisions needs to be adhered to scrupulously while printing of pamphlets, posters and other election related materials used in electioneering. Accordingly, the below instructions are required to be followed:-.

1) Clearly indicate in the print line the names and addresses of publisher of any election pamphlets or posters, such other materials printed.

2) Send the copies of the printed materials (alongwith three extra copies of each such printed material) within three days of printing to Nodal officer. Election Expenditure Monitoring, South Andaman.

Any contravention of the provision of Section 127-A of the Representation of People Act, 1951 shall be viewed seriously, which may attract penal provisions including revocation of the license of the printing press under the relevant provisions provided under the Statute.
