Second Randomization of EVMs for Polling Station-Wise Distribution Held

Port Blair, April 1: The second randomization of Electronic Voting Machines was held today in the Conference Hall of District Office, South Andaman under the Chairmanship of the Returning Officer, Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS in the presence of the General Observer of the Constituency, Shri B.N. Singh, IAS, Shri Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Nodal Officer (EVM/MCC) and contesting candidates & their representatives.

The Returning Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency informed that second randomization is being done for Polling Station wise distribution of EVMs. The RO informed that as per the guidelines of the ECI, second randomization of Electronic Voting Machines is being done in the presence of the General Observer of the Constituency, contesting candidates and their representatives. The RO further said that preparation of EVMs will be carried out on April, 3, 2024 in the presence of contesting candidates and their representatives.

The General Observer for Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency, Shri B.N Singh stated that randomization of EVMs in the presence of contesting candidates and their representatives is a testimony towards conducting free, fair and transparent elections in A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency.

Randomization of EVMs was done in EMS software developed by Election Commission of India for the purpose. Altogether, 807 Ballot Unit, 807 Control Unit and 848 VVPAT were randomised today and the entire procedure of Randomization of EVMs/VVPAT was also videographed.

Before the final randomization of EVMs, two trial of randomization procedure of EVMs were also conducted before the contesting candidates and their representatives for their better understanding.        

Result of 2nd randomization of EVMs i.e., list of EVMs was also circulated amongst contesting candidates and their representatives for their reference.
