Port Blair, April 2: Andaman and Nicobar Police proudly announces the launch of its in-house developed ‘Chatbot’. The newly unveiled chatbot, named "Election Mitra," represents a significant milestone in the technological upgradation efforts of Andaman and Nicobar Police. This Chatbot was born out of extensive discussions with various stakeholders, involved in the election process, wherein a need was felt to ensure that all Police personnel, right up to the last man, must have ready and all-time access to authentic information put out by the Election Commission of India, in a user-friendly and interactive manner.

Developed by Smt. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP North & Middle Andaman and Sh. Rahul L Nair, IPS, SDPO, Rangat, “Election Mitra”, it is an outcome borne out of the emphasis given by DGP, A&N Islands, Sh. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, on developing and using state-of-the-art technology in day-to-day policing. The ‘Chatbot’ has been trained on all the Handbooks of the Election Commission of India pertaining to the roles and responsibilities of the Police, and utilises the power of Machine Learning to provide prompt and accurate responses to user inquiries by referencing these authentic sources.

‘Election Mitra’ is readily accessible by scanning a QR Code, which has been distributed throughout the rank and file of Andaman & Nicobar Police and the Central Armed Force (CAPF) who have been deployed for election duties in the Islands.

Another technological initiative that has been launched, is the Geotagging and Colour Coding of all Polling stations, vulnerable pockets, locations of repeat offenders and History sheeters, and other useful/relevant information etc. These geotagged maps not only provide a ready reference and area familiarization for the CAPFs, force’s but are also of immense help in planning the Area Domination and other checking activities, thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of these exercises. These geotagged maps are available on the platform of Google Maps and have been made available through scanning of QR Code to all the field Police personnel and CAPFs deployed for election duties.

The launch of these initiatives underscores Andaman and Nicobar Police's unwavering for commitment embracing innovation and leveraging technology to deliver on its mission of ensuring a free, fair and peaceful Elections in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

DGP/A&N Islands has lauded their efforts and urged all ranks and files to work more towards technology led policing and adapt various technological (PRO, A&N POLICE) advancements.
