Port Blair, April 29: The 2nd Edition of Smash Arena Badminton Championship 2024 organized under the aegis of Smash Arena Badminton Court concluded on 28th April 2024 at Haddo, leaving participants alike with memories of thrilling matches and competitive camaraderie.
Around 100 shuttlers from different parts of Andaman & Nicobar Islands competed for titles in Under 13 Boys (Singles & Doubles), Under 13 Girls (Singles), Under 17 Boys (Singles & Doubles), Men's Open (Doubles) and Veteran 40+ (Doubles).
The Championship lasted for 4 days being held on 13th & 14th April and 27th & 28th April. The event lived up to its promise of delivering top-notch badminton action.
The Closing Ceremony witnessed the presence of Mr. Joy Pinto, Block Sports Officer, Department of Sports & Youth Affairs as Chief Guest and Mr. B. Neelaiah, General Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Chess Association as Guest of Honour.
They distributed the Cash Prizes and Trophies worth ₹ 1 Lakh among the winners and runner ups of the tournament. A good number of sports lovers were also present during the event.
In Under 13 Boys (Single), Master. Harshit Anthony bagged the first position while Master. Akshaj emerged as Runner Up.
In Under 13 Boys (Doubles), Master. Harshit & Master. Zaid bagged the first position while Master. Adyansh & Master. Akshaj emerged as Runner Ups.
In Under 13 Girls (Single), Ms. Lakshmita bagged the first position while Ms. Rachel emerged as Runner Up.
In Under 17 Boys (Single), Master. Eric bagged the first position while Master. Jitesh emerged as Runner Up.
In Under 17 Boys (Doubles), Master. Suman & Master. Ajay bagged the first position while Master. Eric & Master. Hrishit emerged as Runner Ups.
In Men's Open (Doubles), Mr. Balwant & Mr. Vishal bagged the first position while Mr. Zanpear & Mr. Rahul emerged as Runner Ups.
In Veteran 40+ (Doubles), Mr. Zanpear & Mr. Yosuf bagged the first position while Mr. Shyam & Mr. Mahendar emerged as Runner Ups.
Meanwhile, Mr. Dakshin Bhasker, Organizing Committee Member of Smash Arena thanked the event sponsors, participants and all those involved towards the success of the tournament.
The tournament not only showcased the athletic prowess of the participants but also the spirit of sportsmanship that prevailed throughout the event.
