Port Blair, April 5: The Chief Electoral Officer, Shri B S Jaglan, IAS, alongwith Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, DC/RO, ANIPC today visited EVM & VVPATs warehouse situated near ITF Ground to inspect the ongoing Commissioning of EVMs & VVPATs to be used for the Polling on 19th April, 2024 (Poll day).

The Commissioning of the machines are being carried out in the Central Warehouse behind ITF ground. CEO has appreciated the RO, ANIPC, Nodal Officer (EVM & VVPATs) and his teams for the arrangements made at the Warehouse as per the ECI’s instructions.

Report malicious online activities on WhatsApp number ‘9531856083’; Offenders will be prosecuted

Port Blair, April 5: With a steadfast commitment to preserving the sanctity and fairness of the democratic process and to combat the potential misuse of Short Message Services (SMSs) and various social media platforms during elections, a dedicated WhatsApp number ‘9531856083’ has been made available to the public by A & N Police, in consonance with the direction of Election Commission of India (ECI).

Port Blair, April 5: In compliance with the directions issued by the Chief Electoral Officer A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency during the meeting held on 1st April, 2024 and communicated in the minutes of the meeting vide F.No.PA/ERO/MTNGS/GE/2024/003 dated 2nd April 2024, the following health advisory has been issued for officials on election duty.

Kalighat, April 5: The Kalighat Police conducted a swift and efficient operation that resulted in the successful confiscation of a significant quantity of illicit liquor in the dense forests of Talbagan, Doctor Para, Sagar Par Khari, and Paschim Sagar.

SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO, PS Kalighat, demonstrated exceptional leadership by assembling a specialized team consisting of ASI Mukesh Charan, I/c OP Kishorinagar, PCs Jaspal Singh, Ripon Mistry, Ranjit, Sushil Sarkar and Irenious. The proactive team successfully seized a significant quantity of 750 liters of illicit lehan and 4.5 liters of illicit liquor, along with various utensils and timber materials used in the production process. These materials were clandestinely hidden within the jungles. Following the seizure, the illicit lehan was promptly destroyed on-site, along with the other materials used in the production process. The seized illicit liquor was brought to PS Kalighat and a case under Excise Regulation has been registered, dealing a major blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.

Port Blair, April 5: The general public and consumers have been informed that on Apr. 6, there will be power outages in Haddo, Haddo Wharf, Foreshore Road and upto Civil Aviation Delanipur between 0800 hrs and 1330 hrs in connection with urgent maintenance of the 11 KV high tension line of the Haddo feeder.
