Port Blair, April 7: In a relentless campaign against bootlegging and the illicit liquor trade, the Central Crime Station police have intensified their crackdown keeping in view the upcoming elections in A&N Islands. In this direction, a strategic Jungle search operation was conducted on 07/04/24 in the Caddlegunj, Ograbraj area.

The dedicated team from PS Central Crime Station, comprising of HC/Baroi, PC/Srinivas, PC/Amose, and PC/Chandran under the supervision of SHO, PS CCS Inspr. Girish Kumar, meticulously executed the operation. Their search unearthed 14 concealed tins containing approximately 195 liters of fermented solution (Lehan), a vital ingredient in the production of illicit liquor. Swift action was taken to destroy the illicit substance, with thorough documentation through photography to prevent its misuse in preparation of illicit liquor.

Kalighat, April 7: In a swift and efficient operation carried out on 06/04/2024, the Kalighat Police successfully confiscated a significant quantity of illicit lehan in Doctor Para jungle.

Acting promptly on a tip, SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO, PS Kalighat, formed a specialized team consisting of PCs Sushil Sarkar and Ranjit. The proactive team successfully seized a significant quantity of 400 liters of illicit lehan along with various utensils and timber materials used in the production process. These materials were discreetly hidden deep within the jungle. Subsequently, all confiscated items were promptly destroyed, dealing a major blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.

Car Nicobar, April 7: Various activities were organized by the Nicobar District Police as part of the Systematic Voter’s Education & Electoral Participation (SVEEP), the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India on April 6.

Urges Police & Defence Forces to be on High Alert for the Smooth Conduct of Election in ANIPC

Port Blair, April 5: A meeting was held under the Chairmanship of the Chief Electoral Officer, Shri B.S. Jaglan, IAS, in the Mini Conference Hall of the Secretariat here today to review the Law & Order situation in view of the General Elections to Lok Sabha-2024. Chairing the meeting, the CEO urged the Police Force to be on high alert in maintaining Law and Order situation for the smooth conduct of Election in Andaman &Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency. The CEO further urged to check the MCC violation as per the guidelines issued by the ECI, especially the movement of cash, drugs and liquor to lure the voters and directed for its immediate seizure without any hesitation. He also urged for minimal harassment to public during checking being carried out by the Police teams and people carrying legal cash should not be harassed.
