Port Blair, Oct. 20: National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme (NIDDCP) day will be observed on 21st October, 2023, by the Directorate of Health Services in association with Union Territory Health Mission with the aim to zero mental and physical retardation, deaf & mutism, cretinism, still births, abortion etc., due to lack of Iodine.

Port Blair, Oct. 20: The three days training programme on ‘Crab Fattening & Shrimp Farming’ organized by Department of Fisheries in association with ICAR-CIARI, Garacharma and RGCA, Kodiaghat concluded today at Fisheries Training Center, Marine Hill. The last day programme concluded with field visits of trainees to the Crab Fattening facility at New Wandoor, Shrimp Farms constructed under PMMSY at Saitankhadi and Mannarghat. The trainees interacted with the farmers about the possibilities of initiating brackish water ventures, culture practices and challenges faced during culture period.

Port Blair, Oct. 20: Ration Card holders of this UT have been informed that the Department of CS & CA has initiated the e-KYC of every member present in the respective Ration Card as per the mandate and directions of the Govt. of India. Hence, all Ration Card holders (APL/ PHH & AAY) have been requested to contact any of their nearest Fair Price Shop along with Aadhaar numbers and Ration Card to get their e-KYC done for all the members listed in the Ration Card latest by 30th November, 2023.

Port Blair, Oct. 20: With the objective of fostering self-employment, a regular initiative was implemented at Central Hatchery Dollygunj, which involved distributing day-old chicks to local farmers. A total of 1107 Vanaraja day-old birds, 335 ducklings, and 720 Japanese quail were allocated to 26 farmers today.
