Port Blair, Dec. 20: A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party Led by its State Vice President, Shri M. Vinod along with Smti Milly Roy, Pradhan, Urmilapur, Shri Bisnu Mondal, Panchayat Samity Member, Urmilapur and Shri Ankit Mirdha, State Secretary, BJ Yuva Morcha met Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS Chief Secretary, A&N Administration today at his office.

The delegation discussed various issues pertaining to Urmilapur Panchayat and the Chief Secretary after listening to the delegation has assured to look into all the issues raised by the delegation at the earliest.

Port Blair, Dec. 20: The Andaman & Nicobar Police has proposed to organize DGP cup State Level League-cum-Knockout Cricket Tournament at Netaji Stadium, Port Blair and Mahatma Gandhi International School, Brookshabad. The entry fee for the said tournament is Rs. 20,000 (Rs. Twenty Thousand Only). The prize details for the same is under:-

1) Winner: Rs.100000/- (Rupees One Lakh) With trophy

CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee deeply mourn the passing away of N. Raveendran, retired Headmaster and a resident of Shadipur, Port Blair today (20.12.2023) morning at Port Blair. He was 91 years.  A left-minded person, he was a former leader of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Associaiton. While in government service, he had actively participated in the government employees’ movement in different parts of these islands.  

Port Blair, Dec. 20: The General Body meeting of the Hinterland Seamen Union (CITU) was held at Port Blair recently under the chairmanship of TK Khalil.   Addressing the meeting, D. Ayyappan, Vice President, CITU A & N State Committee briefly explained the difficulties being faced by the seamen working in the vessels owned and operated by the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. He said that the seamen in the inter-island sector are getting the wages fixed about 14 years back and there is no wage revision for the seamen since then. He further pointed out that the central government is going ahead with its proclaimed policy of privatization, casualisation and contractorisation of government sector. 

Port Blair, Dec. 20: The 27th meeting of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (ANIBOCWWB) was held today in the Conference Hall of the Office of the Labour Commissioner, A & N Administration, Supply Line, Port Blair under the Chairmanship of Dr. Anil Agarwal, Chairman, ANIBOCWWB/ Secretary (Labour& Employment), A & N Administration. Representative of APWD, NHDCL, Representatives of Trade Unions and officials from the Office of Labour Commissioner attended the meeting. During the meeting, various issues relating to the extension of various social security assistance to the registered construction workers of the Board were discussed and the Chairman of the Board emphasised the need to ensure the extension of benefits/assistance to the registered construction workers of the Board. The Chairman also emphasised the members to create awareness among the workers engaged in construction works at different sites of the Islands.
