American Diplomats Advocate for Women in Security & Foreign Policy

Chennai, March 27: American Diplomats from U.S. Consulate General Chennai opened the first Women in Security (WiS) networking forum conducted by the U.S. Department of State’s Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) Chennai Chapter with host Cognizant Corporate Security in Chennai on March 22.  OSAC is a public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) and private sector security professionals to promote security cooperation, trainings, consultations, events, alerts, and analysis.  To effectuate, OSAC fosters a global consortium of diplomatic and corporate security professionals – operating abroad – who exchange timely information and security best practices to mitigate risks to U.S. interests worldwide.

Billiground, March 27: In a swift and efficient operation carried out on 27/03/2024, the Billiground Police successfully confiscated a significant quantity of illicit liquor at Govindpur-2 forest, Badamnallah.

Acting promptly on a tip, SI M.V Shiju Kumar, SHO, PS Billiground formed a specialized team consisting of ASI Muchray munda, I/c, OP Badamnallah, ASI (IRBn) Rajni Babu, PCs Anurudra Mondal and Mustafa. The proactive team successfully seized a significant quantity of 500 liters of Lehan, along with 03 Nos. iron drums, 04 Nos. plastic jerricane, various utensils, and timber materials used in the production process. These materials were clandestinely hidden within the jungle. Subsequently, all confiscated items were promptly destroyed, dealing a major blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.

Port Blair, March 27: With the announcement of Election Schedule by the Election Commission of India on March 16, 2024, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force. The MCC is a set of guidelines issued by the ECI to regulate the activities of Political Parties and candidates prior to elections to provide a level playing field to the candidates and for conducting free, fair and transparent elections. The print, electronic and social media should adhere to MCC for the smooth conduct of the Election in Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency. For better implementation of MCC, a Media Cell and a Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) is functioning in the conference hall of Directorate of IP&T, to check the paid news and also to pre-certify the advertisements in Electronic & Social media.
