Shaheed Dweep, Nov. 21: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today laid the foundation stone for three important projects at Shaheed Dweep.

The three projects are construction of a waiting shed with sitting facilities at parking space of APWD at Natural Bridge, Laxmanpur, W.No.1, Saheed Dweep; Construction of two open bathrooms without roof adjoining to the existing Ringwell at Ward No. 2, Neil Kendra and construction of Open shed covering Hollow blocks at burning ghat, Ramnagar, ward number 01, Saheed Dweep.

Port Blair, Nov. 21: Inspector General Bhisham Sharma, TM, COMCG (A&N) will be relinquishing command of ICG Region (A&N) on 22 Nov 23, after a successful tenure of 16 months. The Flag Officer assumed command on 01 August 2022 as the 25th commander of the Coast Guard Region (A&N).

Hut Bay, Nov. 21: The District Child Protection Unit, South Andaman in collaboration with the school authority of Government Model Senior Secondary School Hutbay, Little Andaman on 20th Nov 2023 celebrated International Child Rights Day. The Tehsildar, Shri Ajoy Mondal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the program whereas the Pramukh, Little Andaman, Shri S. Parmanathan was the Guest of Honor.

Port Blair, Nov. 21: The President, Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee, Shri. Rangalal Halder has raised serious concerns about the sudden termination of services of professional patient care attendants in G.B Pant Hospital.

In a letter addressed to the Director of Health Services, A&N Administration, Shri. Halder expressed his deep dismay and highlighted that the Medical Department's decision to halt the services of private patient care attendants without prior notice has created significant challenges for families in need of long-term patient care support.

Port Blair, Nov.  21: The Department of Fisheries celebrated ‘World Fisheries Day-2023’ today in the conference hall of Department of Industries. Smt. Nandini Paliwal, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Fisheries) was the chief guest on this occasion. In her address, she emphasized on the schemes and programmes under ‘Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana’ (PMMSY) and sensitized the gathering about the scope of A&N Fisheries potential and its current status of utilization. Considering the potential of Tuna in the Islands, she called up on the entrepreneurs and fishermen to put best effort through Govt. schemes for harvest and export of tuna and tuna like resources. She also highlighted the initiatives taken by A&N Administration to meet the primary input requirement of traditional fishermen community for the harvest, storage and export.
