Port Blair, March 12: A-5 weeks long training programme for 29 SHG women to work as ‘Pashu Sakhis’ under DAY-NRLM scheme organized by the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Rural Livelihood Mission (ANIRLM) attached with the Directorate of RD, PRIs and ULBs in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services concludes. The training took place at Poly Clinic under Deptt. of AH&VS at Dollygunj and also at the respective Blocks as per the schedule. The valedictory function of the training was organized at the Veterinary Hospital, Goalghar which was presided by Shri. L A Kumar, IAS, Secretary (AH&VS), A&N Administration. Shri. K A Naveen, Director (AH & VS), Shri. Shiv Singh Meena, Director (RD), officials of RD and AH&VS Departments were also present during the function.

Port Blair, March 12: ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair along with its KVKs is organizing Kisan Mela on the theme: Agripreneurship Development in Islands from 20th to 21th March 2024 in its Mela ground at Garacharma Research Complex. Around 600 farmers representing different gram panchayats of South, Middle & North Andaman & Nicobar districts is expected to participate in the two-day event.This mela is not just a gathering; it's a celebration of agriculture and innovation.

Car Nicobar, March 12: In view of the ensuing Lok Sabha General Election-2024, the District Administration, Nicobar under the overall supervision of Ms.Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (N) conducted Additional First Round Training today at District Library building, Car Nicobar. The training was imparted by Shri Som Naidu, Retired DANICS. The program commemorated with a briefing by Shri Piyush Vijaykaran, Assistant Commissioner (Nicobars) on the importance of election training. A detailed training was given on various sections viz. the polling procedure to be followed during election, setting up of Polling Stations and security arrangements, steps to be followed at the commencement and end of the poll and setting and preparation of EVM and VVPAT etc. The training program was attended by Assistant Commissioner (Nicobar), Sector Officers, Presiding Officers, Polling Officers, AERO, Master Trainers, MCC teams and other Govt. staff associated with the ensuing election.

Port Blair, March 12: As part of SVEEP activity in the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha, 2024, a Signature Campaign on the theme ‘Wall of Democracy’ was organized in the A&N Secretariat premises here today. The objective of organizing the Signature Campaign was to promote informed and ethical voting and to inculcate responsible democratic awareness amongst the staff as well as general public. The Chief Electoral Officer, ANIPC, Shri B.S. Jaglan, IAS as the chief guest, inaugurated the Signature Campaign in the Secretariat premises.
