Dolphins are highly intelligent and charismatic aquatic mammals found in both marine and river habitats worldwide. These fascinating creatures play a vital role in marine ecosystems. But, today, the dolphin population faces grave threats from habitat destruction, pollution, over-fishing, and climate change.

Recognizing the profound importance of dolphin conservation in maintaining the ecological balance of our waters and understanding its tourism potential as a means of stimulating the local economy, the Government of India has designated October 5th as National Dolphin Day.
