Traffic Police Warns Vehicle Owners and Seeks Support of General Public in Reporting Violations

Port Blair, June 25: It has been noticed that few vehicle owners are indulged in alteration/modification of their vehicles. As per section 52 of Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act, 2019, no owner of a motor vehicle shall so alter the vehicle that the particulars contained in the certificate of registration are at variance with those originally specified by the manufacturer.

Port Blair, June 25: The Bharatiya Janata Party State President, Shri. Ajoy Bairagi has requested Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman), Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Port Blair for extension of submission date of requisite details for Society/Association/Youth Club/NGOs/ Temple Committee/ Mahila Mandal/ Church/ Mosque/ School registered under Society Registration Act 1860 of South Andaman District from 26/06/2020 to atleast a period of three (3) Months in view of COVID-19 and subsequent lockdown, due to which procedures to complete the requisite information coudn’t be completed so far by majority of associations.

The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, observed on 26th June each year, aims to draw awareness to the need for action and cooperation in order to achieve a drug - free world. Illicit drugs and their trafficking pose a large health threat to humanity. Drug problems and dependencies put a great deal of pressure on health care systems and constitute a threat to the safety and well being of humans.

Narendra Kumar, Election Commissioner, Election Commission for UT’s, New Delhi to extend the time/period for inclusion/deletion/correction/ transposition of Electoral Roll which was actually scheduled to be done within 30/06/2020 for at least 15 Days more considering COVID-19 and subsequent lockdown, due to which procedures to complete the requisite information coudn’t be completed so far.

A&N Administration to Procure More than 70 Electric Cars for 34 Departments and 40 Electric Busses for Public Transport

Port Blair, June 24: Andaman and Nicobar Administration is committed to take forward the vision and direction of Government of India in moving towards electric vehicles from the existing fossil fuel vehicles as a measure to preserve the environment. On the one hand, Administration has already decided to engage electric cars for the Government purposes and on the other hand, very soon public transport will be witnessing the induction and plying of 40 electric buses in the UT. In this direction, in the first phase, it has been decided to operate more than 70 Electric cars for the use of 34 departments/divisions. All these electric cars have reached Port Blair and today Transport Department by taking a lead role completed all the formalities like registration, setting up of charging infrastructure, etc and made these E-cars ready for operation.
