Swaraj Dweep, Dec. 29: While the drive by environment NGOs to make people surrender their air guns been well appreciated and has yielded results, there still remain people who are insensitive. And this is causing a major concern for the delicate eco system of the islands.

The well-meaning and concerned residents of Swaraj Dweep have brought to light a matter wherein the few insensitive residents of the island were seen hunting fruit eating bats at night hours. The complaint is that in the recent weeks, there has been an alarming surge in the unchecked use of air guns in Swaraj Dweep, particularly in the vicinity of tourist hotspots in the island, such as Eco Villa Resort and Something Different Beach Cafe. This worrisome trend, often involving intoxicated individuals and minors, poses a significant threat not only to public safety but also to the delicate ecosystem of the island.
